053 ~ Blizzard

Saturday - 10th - with plans greatly changed due to the dance party being canceled we considered what else we might do since EVERYONE would be home plus we'd have Dany (9yo niece/cousin) most of the day too since her mom had to go to work at WalMart until 4:30pm.  We had close to 6 inches of new snow when Sis dropped her off here.  By the time she came to pick her up we had another 3 or 4 inches!  A good friend and neighbor came over with his snowplow to help us clear our driveway (one of the longest on the block) and our sidewalks during one of the lulls in the storm.

The state, county & city officials/authorities were all telling everyone to stay put, do not travel except in emergencies.  We took a lot of pictures!  When we had a break in the snow for a while, late Saturday, about the time Sis was coming in from work, the triplets took off to spend time at some friends' home with a bunch of other teens & young adults.  Watching the radar I had to call them up about 8pm to tell them all to get headed home... heavy snows were closing in and they needed to be off the roads before that hit our area!  Not everyone made it to their destinations and we ended up with two extra teens that night.  They all were fine with staying in and playing Monopoly for a few hours before finding places to sleep.  I wish we had extra beds but we don't at this time... maybe by this time next year.  Still, kids usually don't mind sleeping on couches or even on the floor (on top of lots of layers of blankets and such).

Here's a few more pics
from our first blizzard of the 2010-2011 winter season:

052 ~ Yellow Roses

Friday - 9th - was last minute shopping for goodies for the TW party (including the beautiful bunch of yellow roses shown in part in today's pic), making sure the house was all clean, and calling people who hadn't yet RSVP'd one way or the other.  The party was great and lots of fun!  We had a fairly full house.  There were plenty of treats, including the fruit salsa made with TWs salsa maker!  And we made sure everyone left early enough to get home safely before the storm hit us.  It began snowing right around midnight.

051 ~ O'Riley

This pic of O'Riley was taken on the 4th... and it's been almost that long since I've posted on this blog!

It's Wednesday, December 24, 2010!
My last post was on Wednesday, December 8, 2010!!!
SIXTEEN DAYS AGO!!!
Well, it's easy enough still to backtrack...
(as long as you've made a few notes about each day along the way)
Thursday - 9th - was spent mostly in preparation for having a houseful of guests for our TW party on Friday; plus doing a few things to be ready for a dance party on Saturday night that some friends of our were hosting.  And making sure we had the necessary items at home in case Friday's storm really did turn into a blizzard... we were on the fringes of snowfall at that time so it was still possible we'd just get a lot of rain and maybe some sleet plus icy roads.  Then we got word that Saturday's party was canceled due to a possible blizzard - rescheduled date was yet to be announced.

050 ~ Fifty!!!

~F~I~F~T~Y~
~5~0~

WOW!
Fifty days - Fifty photos - Fifty posts!

The "days" aren't quite right
because we all know I've missed a few days
here & there, tho I always catch up!

The "photos" aren't quite right either
because some days have just one
but some days have lots more than one!

But FIFTY POSTS fits just right
because today I have
(with this post)
now written 50 posts
for this blog!

YAY!!!

This has nothing to do with 50!

LOL

About the only way it might have anything to do with 50 is in my desire to achieve certain goals within a given timeline... such as;
I'd like to have 50 personal customers
by May 2011.
or...
I'd like to lose 50 pounds
by March 2011.

You might not think one is related to the other,
but they are!

Take a look at the picture again:

This is a circle of wellness.
Each part is connected to the others.
Without any one, wellness is not complete.
Starting from the 12 o'clock position
you have:
Financial Wellness
Environmental Wellness
Personal Wellness
Physical Wellness

Put them in any order you want;
you're priorities may be
different from mine,
but you need all four
if you're really going to be well.

Think about it!

We all need money these days
(financial)
We all breathe air and drink water
(environmental)
We all have people we care about,
including ourselves
(personal)
We all have health issues we're
concerned about
or want to improve
(physical)

Sure we can expand on any or all
of these a lot more!
But if you had to do away with one,
which one would it be?
Name one you could do without
that would not have
a negative effect
on the others!

So - back to my earlier thought:
relating the goals
of building my customer base
and me losing weight
to one another.

My customer base affects my financial wellness.
My losing weight affects my physical wellness.
When my financial wellness improves,
so will my personal wellness
because I will be able to do more
for those I care about,
and doing that will make me
feel happier and more joyful.
When my personal wellness improves,
so will my physical wellness
because I will be getting more done
since I'm happier to begin with.
And all these tie into my environmental wellness
because everything I do will help
reduce chemicals in the environment,
reduce wasteful practices that harm
the environment,
promote others making similar changes,
thus bringing a greater good impact
on environmental wellness.
As each area improves,
the world around me improves.
As I teach this to others,
the world around them improves too!

049 ~ Perfect!

Tuesday, December 7, 2010
(a little behind...)

One of these days I'll figure out the how's and why's of photography!
Same everything but they came out different - WHY?  HOW???

I like both of them!  I just want to know how to make sure
I'm getting the look I want, when I want it!
Is that so much to ask?

There are so many things I want to know more about:

Why do some people seem to always get all the "good stuff" in life?
Why do others seem to always get all the "leftovers" in life?
Do they each do something, anything different?

Why is it that whatever it is you think you want,
when you finally get it, you want something different?

If you're one of those people who always gets the leftovers,
is it really possible to change things in your life somehow
so you can start getting the good stuff instead?

Wouldn't this world be wonderful if everyone was content?
Wouldn't it be nice to know that whatever you desired, you'd get?
Wouldn't we all be better people without so much stress over
getting the good stuff,
not getting the leftovers,
being able to meet our needs
and then some
without a lot of hassles?

In a perfect world ...
there would be no want,
there would be no pain,
there would be no sorrow,
life would be all we want it to be,
in every way possible!

Wouldn't you love a perfect world?

048 ~ Buried

Monday, December 6, 2010
(late, I know)  ;-)

These photos are the same area I took pictures of back
in September... (23-24) ...because of flooding then.
NOW, you can't see where the water should be
because it's now buried under several inches of snow!

It's looking like snow is here for the season now too!

I don't really mind the snow - to look at, and maybe to play in.
But when it's below zero outside, and there's lots of snow and ice
I'd much rather be indoors instead of out doing things that must be done!

My fibro flare is not so bad now... finally...
Sunday was horrible...
Monday was awful...
Tuesday wasn't so bad...
and Today is OK.

On to Tuesday!

047 ~ *S*N*O*W*

*~*~*~*S*N*O*W*~*~*~*

I love the affect of taking this shot
through a very wet window!

Everything has a good 4 to 6 inches of
snow still sticking to it!

As I pulled into the driveway the other day
I caught three big crows feasting on the
plants and maybe seeds that had been
covered in snow, before our friend came by
and used his new snowblower to clear it.
These two weren't bothered by the car
pulling up into the driveway...

But THIS one (middle of pic) was not at all
pleased to see us that close!
He sought safety in the pine tree above.

That is, until I parked under that tree...
then he flew up to the wires here;
and soon called to his buddies and
the three of them flew off and away!

Today, Sunday, was not a good day for me.
I didn't sleep well to begin with;
had trouble being up by 5am to run Mack to work;
so he just took the car himself
(which was ok with me);
and by the time I should have been getting up
so I could make the meeting
I felt like a convoy of semis had run me over!
I ended up staying home, while my girls caught a ride
to the meeting with Shirley.
I did get to listen in on the phone. :)

But it's clear to me now that I'm in the midst of
another "fibro flare"
and I'm not happy about it!
I have so much to do this week!
But I failed to pace myself properly
the last few days.
I knew it!
But I was feeling pretty good,
not hurting so much
even though I was very busy
and I had so much to get done!

Even after a day, the entire day, of rest
I'm hurting pretty bad and can only pray
that I'll sleep a few hours tonight and
maybe I'll be a little better in the morning.

May this flare be short-lived and soon gone!
